TICK+ [Pt]█ TICK+ – Advanced US Market Internals & TICK Distribution Tool
TICK+ is a comprehensive indicator that decodes US market internals by leveraging the TICK index—the net difference between stocks ticking up and those ticking down. Unlike many standard TICK tools that only plot raw values, TICK+ provides multiple visualization modes, dynamic moving averages, an independent MA Ribbon, a detailed distribution profile, divergence and pivot analysis, and real-time data tables. This integrated approach offers both visual and quantitative insights into intraday market breadth, trend sustainability, and potential reversals—making it an indispensable tool for trading US indices, futures, and blue‑chip stocks.
Market internals enthusiasts often consider the TICK index indispensable for trading these markets. By offering an immediate snapshot of sentiment and confirming trends through additional analytics, TICK+ gives traders a decisive edge—helping to determine whether a rally is truly supported by broad participation or if caution is warranted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
█ Key Features:
► Market Internal – Multiple Display Modes:
Line Mode: Plots the TICK index as a continuous line for a clear view of real‑time values and trend direction.
Bar Mode: Uses traditional bar charts to represent the TICK index, emphasizing the magnitude of changes.
Heikin Ashi Mode: Applies the Heikin Ashi technique to smooth out fluctuations, making the underlying trend easier to discern.
Iceberg TICK Mode: Fills the area between zero and the highs in green, and between zero and the lows in red—highlighting how long the market remains in positive versus negative territory.
How It Works & Usage:
These display modes enable traders to select the visualization that best fits their analysis style. For instance, Iceberg TICK Mode highlights the duration of market strength or weakness, a critical factor for intraday directional assessment.
Comparison of Display Modes
► Dual Moving Average – Fast & Slow:
Computes two moving averages on the TICK index:
• Fast MA – reacts quickly to recent changes.
• Slow MA – confirms the overall trend.
Crossovers provide clear signals:
• Fast MA crossing above the slow MA indicates rising bullish momentum.
• Fast MA crossing below the slow MA indicates increasing bearish pressure.
How It Works & Usage:
These dual moving averages assist in detecting momentum shifts. Crossover signals can be used to time entries and exits to align with prevailing market sentiment.
Dual MA Crossover Example
► Moving Average / Smoothed MA – Smoothed & Base Moving Averages:
Calculates a Base MA and a Smoothed MA on the TICK index to reduce short‑term volatility.
Helps clarify the prevailing trend, providing additional confirmation alongside the dual moving averages.
How It Works & Usage:
These averages filter out noise and offer extra validation of the current trend, enhancing the reliability of trading signals.
Base and Smoothed MA Example
► Moving Average Ribbon – MA Ribbon:
Independently plots several moving averages together as a “ribbon,” each line customizable in length and type.
Visually reflects overall market directional strength:
• Consistent green color indicate sustained bullish conditions.
• Uniform red color indicate prevailing bearish sentiment.
How It Works & Usage:
The MA Ribbon provides a layered perspective on market internals. It enables traders to quickly gauge the robustness of a trend or identify early signs of a potential reversal.
MA Ribbon Trend and Shading
► Divergence - Pivot based – Divergence & Pivot Analysis:
Integrates divergence detection with pivot-based trendline analysis.
Identifies instances when the TICK index and price action diverge, serving as an early warning of a weakening trend.
How It Works & Usage:
Divergence signals help refine trade entries and exits by indicating potential trend reversals or adjustments in market sentiment.
Divergence Analysis
► TICK Distribution Profile – TICK Distribution Profile:
Divides the TICK index range into multiple bins to create a profile of how TICK values are distributed.
Identifies the point of control—the level where most TICK readings concentrate—relative to zero.
Allows adjustment of the lookback period to detect shifts in market bias, such as a move from a neutral zone toward extreme levels.
How It Works & Usage:
By visualizing the distribution of TICK readings, traders can monitor changes in market internals that may precede significant trend changes.
TICK Distribution Profile
► ZigZag – ZigZag:
Applies a zigzag algorithm to filter out minor fluctuations and identify significant swing highs and lows.
Highlights trend extremities and potential reversal points.
Offers an optional extension to the last bar for dynamic trend tracking.
How It Works & Usage:
The ZigZag feature helps traders focus on the major price swings that define market structure, eliminating the noise of insignificant movements.
ZigZag Example
► Pivot Trendline – Pivot Trendline:
Draws trendlines connecting pivot highs and pivot lows.
Provides settings to display only the most recent trendline or extend the last trendline.
Assists in identifying evolving support and resistance levels.
How It Works & Usage:
Pivot trendlines offer clear visual cues for key price levels and potential reversal zones, aiding in the timing of trades.
Pivot Trendline Example
► TICK Levels – TICK Levels:
Defines key thresholds for the TICK index, including neutral levels, trend zones, and overbought/oversold (OB/OS) extremes.
Highlights these levels to assist in identifying conditions that may trigger caution or present opportunities.
How It Works & Usage:
Marking these levels provides an immediate reference for assessing when the TICK index enters critical zones, guiding risk management and trade planning.
TICK Levels
► Background Color – Background Color:
Optionally changes the chart background based on TICK or moving average thresholds.
Provides additional visual cues regarding shifts in market sentiment.
How It Works & Usage:
Background color changes help reinforce key signals by immediately indicating shifts in market internals, enhancing overall situational awareness.
Background Color Example
► Data Tables – Data Table:
Displays essential market data in a single, easy-to-read table, including the TICK index source, market sentiment (e.g. Bullish, Bearish, or Neutral), trend status (such as Accelerating ⇗ or Retracing ⇘), and the current TICK value with color-coded strength.
Consolidates numerical data for a quick and precise assessment of market internals.
How It Works & Usage:
The data tables provide live, numerical feedback that complements the visual analysis, making it easy to monitor market sentiment and trend changes at a glance.

► TICK Levels & Background Colors:
Defines thresholds for neutral, trend, and extreme levels.
Offers color selections for level markers and optional background shading.
► Data Table Configuration:
Enables setting of table location, lookback intervals, and font size to present essential TICK metrics in a user‑friendly format.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
█ Additional Insights:
► TICK Index Fundamentals:
Monitors the net difference between stocks ticking up and down.
A positive reading indicates broader market participation, while a negative reading suggests increased selling pressure.
Understanding how long the TICK stays above or below zero is crucial for gauging intraday momentum.
► Role of Moving Averages:
Smooth out short‑term fluctuations, helping to highlight the prevailing trend.
Crossovers between fast and slow MAs can serve as clear signals for market momentum shifts.
► Interpreting the MA Ribbon:
Provides a layered perspective on market direction.
Consistent color and alignment confirm a strong trend, while variations may hint at reversals.

US Market Strength IndexIntro:
It is quite a task to track multiple Indices and market internals to decide which way markets are going, especially when you are in a Trade. You may also get conflicting signals making it harder to confidently decide on your trade bias.
US Market Strength Index a.k.a. US MSI indicator aims to simplify decision-making by coloring the lower panel Green when a majority of market participants are bullish and Red when they are bearish. The code analyses the direction and strength of various US indices & market internal futures contracts to decide the color. The shade of color also changes from Dark to Bright when the momentum is relatively strong. A weighted score is assigned to individual contracts and the color (& shade) are selected based on average score in real-time, for changes in direction and momentum.
A Futures contract provides a proxy and generates price & volume data to analyze the direction and strength. Also, they are traded by sophisticated market participants for about 23 hours a day!
Trading with the general market sentiment in your favor can potentially improve a trade's edge. For example, if various market indices (DOW JONES, S&P 500, NASDAQ, etc.) are positive; bullish, or LONG trades might work out in individual stocks. This may occur due to the following reasons:
Seeing prices rise, Sellers may choose to Sell at Higher prices
Buyers might be attracted to buy into stocks, as the prices are trending higher
SHORT sellers might get cautious of rising prices and may not Open SHORT positions until the current bullish sentiment dies off
Existing SHORT sellers may close their positions due to margin squeeze, possibily fueling more buying
The same logic applies when the market indices are in the negative territory, SHORT trades may have a higher probability of working out.
Features:
The bright Green color in the lower panel indicates a strong bullish market strength
The dark Green color in the lower panel indicates bullish market strength, but a relatively weaker
The bright Red color in the lower panel indicates a strong bearish market strength
The dark Red color in the lower panel indicates bearish market strength, but a relatively weaker
Basic Set-Up:
Add the Indicator to the chart
You can change the default colors for Market Bearish, Market Bullish, Market Bearish weak, and Market Bullish weak
Important Notes:
You should analyze the stock’s technical data and use prudent risk management for every trade. Trade entries and exits should always be based on the symbol you are trading.
Use the US Market Strength Index as one of the factors to decide your trade bias and filter symbols that support your analysis.
Just because Indices and Market Internals point in a certain direction, it does not guaranteed that a stock could behave the same way.
Also, since this script uses futures contracts, you would need real-time futures data subscription for real-time analysis. At the minimum, you need CME/ CBOE exchange data.
This tool is suited for US Regular Trading Session, but since the US MSI is using futures contracts, the tool tracks pre- and post-market sentiment as well.
Cumulative TICK [Pt]Cumulative TICK Indicator, shown as the bottom indicator, is a robust tool designed to provide traders with insights into market trends using TICK data. This indicator visualizes the cumulative TICK trend in the form of colored columns on a separate chart below the main price chart.
Here's an overview of the key features of the Cumulative TICK Indicator:
1. Selectable TICK Source 🔄: The indicator allows users to choose from four different TICK data sources, namely USI:TICK , USI:TICKQ , USI:TICKI , and $USI:TICKA.
2. TICK Data Type Selection 🎚️: Users can select the type of TICK data to be used. The options include: Close, Open, hl2, ohlc4, hlc3.
3. Optional Simple Moving Average (SMA) 📊: The indicator offers an option to apply an SMA to the Cumulative TICK values, with a customizable length.
4. After-hour Background Color 🌙: The background color changes during after-hours to provide a clear distinction between regular and after-hour trading sessions.
🛠️ How it Works:
The Cumulative TICK Indicator uses TICK data accumulated during the regular market hours (9:30-16:00) as per the New York time zone. At the start of a new session or at the end of the regular session, this cumulative TICK value is reset.
The calculated Cumulative TICK is plotted in a column-style graph. If the SMA is applied, the SMA values are used for the column plots instead. The columns are colored green when the Cumulative TICK is positive and red when it is negative. The shades of green and red vary based on whether the Cumulative TICK is increasing or decreasing compared to the previous value.
This is a simple yet powerful tool to track market sentiment throughout the day using TICK data. Please note that this indicator is intended to be used as part of a comprehensive trading strategy. Always ensure you are managing risk appropriately and consulting various data sources to make informed trading decisions.
LNL Smart TICKLNL Smart TICK
This study is mostly beneficial for intraday traders. It is basically a user-friendly "colorful" representation of the $TICK chart with highlighted $TICK extremes. This indicator also includes: a simple trend gauge that can visualize the bias for the day, cumulative tick cloud which is showing the cumulative strength of either longs & shorts on the day.
$TICK Trend Gauge
Although it is just a exponential moving average. This average (default set on 20) works quite well as an overall gauge for the day. Whenever the gauge is green (above zero), any negative $TICK values below -500 can offer great pullback opportunities. Same applies for the red gauge. 20 EMA is below zero ? Great time to fade any +500 or +1000 tick readings. Obviously the gauge can be ajdusted to any number based on personal style.
$TICK Extremes (little triangles)
These little triangles are triggered anytime $TICK jumps above or below the pre-set values of +1000 or -1000. By just simply observing the $TICK triangles during the day can tell you how much volaility or pressure there is. Sometimes there will be 20 green triangles and only 2 red ones. That obviously mean there is a strong bearish pressure. But there will be days when you are not going to see any triangles at all which can mean there is either a low volatility or the price is stuck in the indecisive market.
Cumulative $TICK Cloud
Cumulative $TICK by itself is a great study for day traders. It is basically running "counting" $TICK that is adding the previous $TICK values from previous bars. Cumulative $TICK can create a direct picture of the current market sentiment. It is not just a simple green / red line but a cloud that can really show you the depth on the $TICK. Some days, the cloud will be quite wide which is a good sign for the strength to one side, but sometimes the cloud will be so narrow it will practically disappear. This would be telling you the exact opposite - not much conviction to any side. Of course the depth as well as the color of the cloud can change during the day.
$TICK & Cumulative $TICK Tables
By just looking at these tables. You can immidiately tell the state of the current $TICK. They both can be red or green. It all depends whether the values are positive or negative. The tables are just a little visual addition to the whole $TICK study.
Hope it helps.
LNL Simple Hedging ToolLNL Simple Hedging Tool
Simple Hedging Tool was created specifically for swing traders who struggle with hedging. This tool helps to spot the ideal moments to put the hedges on (protection of the portfolio during "high risk" times). Simple Hedging Tool will not help you when day trading. It was designed for the daily charts. It is called simple because it is pretty much self-explanatory indicator. The candles are either blue or yellow. Meaning of the colors depend on the version you are using. This tool consist of two versions:
SPX Version:
This version was designed for indexes & overall market benchmarks. In contrast with the VIX version, the SPX version is little more sophisticated since it is based on key market internals. Blue arrows above the candles? More often than not this is signalizing that the key market internals are now approaching bearish signals which means it is the best time to hedge any bullish positions. On the contrary, the yellow arrows are the good reason to lighten up of the shorts & ease off the gas pedal on any bearish outlooks.
VIX Version:
Apart from the black swan events (big market crashes) Vix usually oscillates between the daily extremes. The VIX version is based on a simple bollinger band technique which is visualized with blue & yellow arrows. Whenever the yellow arrows & candles appear, it is good time to put the hedges on & perhaps lighten up on longs.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
The signals from this tool WILL NOT TELL YOU where to buy or sell! But rather when is a good time TO NOT buy or TO NOT sell. Once the signals appear it does not necessarily mean that the move is over & reversion willl happen immidiately. These signals can be flashing for days even weeks. They are not flashing for you to change the bias but rather tighten up your exposure in case your portfolio is mostly one sided.
Hope it helps.
Market InternalsMarket internals can be a powerful tool for determining future moves, overall trend health and provide a means of directional confidence.
This indicator watches a handful of SPX and US stocks based internals to determine key areas of sentiment changes, the internals monitored are:
US Stocks Ticks
Call and Put SPX Volume
SPX Gamma Dispersion
US Stocks Ask and Big Volume
US Stocks Advancing and Declining Issues
Each time there's a bullish or bearish sentiment change it will be market with green/red flag and a single letter that identifies what market internal has changed.
SPX gamma dispersion events aren't to be considered directional from historical observations made but can be a sign of liquidity adjustments and when paired with any of the other aforementioned internals sentiment changes can be used as a powerful signal.
If it's observed that market internals are changing erratically then it's a clear indication of market chop and best to wait for cleaner trends.
Future updates may include non-SPX based internals analysis, change in display, alerts/alertconditions and more. Feel free to comment with any desired changes and we can discuss!
NYSE Market Sentiment Oscillator - Intraday w/ alertsThe ULTIMATE market sentiment indicator that combines the sentiments from the MARKET INTERNALS : $ADD ( NYSE $ADV minus $DECL ), $VOLD ( NYSE $UVOL minus $DVOL ) and $TICK ( NYSE Cumulative tick ). Sentiment is based on calculating the crossovers of moving average pairs for each of the market internals. As a result, 3 corresponding signal lines are generated + 1 combined Market Sentiment Oscillator (aka MSO) signal line.
**Important** This indicator is only meant to be used for intraday 1min-5 min timeframe only *** It may not function at higher timeframes without updating some moving average periods.
WHAT IS IT SHOWING?
Each signal lines represents the trend of the 3 market internals (TICK, ADD, VOLD). If signal line is above zero, it is in a bullish trend; below zero, bearish. The oscillating frequency of these lines are dependent on the length of moving average pairs of your choosing. A combined MSO signal line shows the combined trends of those 3 market internals, hence it represents real time market sentiment of the NYSE.
FEATURES
There are 2 display modes for this indicator:
1) On a separate pane
- in this mode, the signal lines can be toggled to oscillate along the zero line
2) On the price chart
- in this mode, the signal lines can be toggled to oscillate along the OHLC line of the price chart
- comes with Nadaraya-Watson Envelope and ATR bands
BUY/SELL SIGNALS AND STRATEGIES
By default, this indicator comes with two day trading strategies and offers long and short signals with alerts. These strategies attempts to leverage on the oscillating nature of market price movement on major NYSE indices, such as SPY, SPX, QQQ, NAS, all of which have high correlation with the market internals. However, please note that these signals offers no guarantee to profitability, so use at your own risk.
BACKGROUND COLORS SIGNIFYING TRENDS
There are options to display the background colors in 2 colors and shades.
1) Short-term sentiment
- Bright green = ADD / VOLD / TICK all in up trend
- Dimmed green = ADD / VOLD in up trend, but not TICK
- Bright red = ADD / VOLD / TICK all in down trend
- Dimmed red = ADD / VOLD in down trend, but not TICK
2) Trend Convergence
- Green = ADD / VOLD / TICK all bullish
- Red = ADD / VOLD / TICK all bearish
3) MSO
- Green = MSO bullish ( MSO signal line > 0 )
- Red = MSO bearish ( MSO signal line < 0 )
MARKET INTERNALS REAL-TIME DATA TABLE
A data table can be toggled on / off that shows the real-time sentiment and values of the three market internals. It may be useful in making quick trading decisions. The table cells are colored according to their corresponding trends.

4C NYSE Market Breadth RatioThe NYSE Market Breadth Ratio is considered by some to be the “king” of market internals. It lets you know instantly how strong current buying or selling pressure is in the broad market, to eliminate guessing or opinion.
This indicator plots the Market Breadth Ratio values for the NYSE and the NASD exchanges in real time.
It also plots the NYSE Market Breadth Ratio in a histogram plot for visual reference.
The indicator dynamically changes colors between green and red depending on whether breadth is currently positive or negative.
This indicator divides the 'Up-Volume' ("UVOL") by 'Down-Volume' ("DVOL"), for each exchange.
It can be added to any chart, but is incredibly useful when added to other sources of market internals like the NYSE Advancers/Decliners Difference (ticker ADD) or with the NYSE UVOL / DVOL Difference (ticker VOLD ).
Credit goes to author=@auron9000 as the bulk of this code was from their Breadth Ratio Bubbles indicator.
---> The changes made to their indicator include: bug fixes where the values werent properly updating; fixed indicator to be a separate plot (not chart overlay), and added the histogram plot.
Market Internals [Makit0] MARKET INTERNALS INDICATOR v0.5beta
Market Internals are suitable for day trade equity indices, named SPY or /ES, please do your own research about what they are and how to use them
This scripts plots the NYSE market internals charts as an indicator for an easy and full visualization of market internal structure all in one chart, useful for SPY and /ES trading
Description of the Market Internals
- TICK: NYSE stocks ticking up vs stocks ticking down, extreme values may point to trend continuation on trending days or reversal in non trending days, example of extreme values can be 800 and 1000
- ADD: NYSE stocks going up vs stocks going down, if price auctions around the zero line may be a non trend day, otherwise may be a trend day
- VOLD: NYSE volume of stocks up vs volume of stocks going down, identify clearly where the volume is going, as example if volume is flowing down may be a good idea no to place longs
- TRIN: NYSE up stocks vs down stocks ratio divided by up volume vs down volume ratio. A value of 1 indicates parity, below that the strength is on the long side, above the strength is in the short side.
A basic use of market internals may be looking for divergences, for example:
- /ES is trading in a range but ADD and VOLD are trending up nonstop, may /ES will break the range to the upside
- /ES is trading in a range and ADD and VOLD are trading around the zero line but got an extreme reading on TICK, may be a non trending day and the TICK extreme reading is at one of the extremes of the /ES range, may be a good probability trade to fade that move
- /ES is trading in a trend to the downside, ADD and VOLD too, you catch a good portion of the move but are fearful to flat and miss more gains, you see in the TICK a lot of extreme values below -800 so your're confident in the continuation of the downtrend, until the TICK goes beyond -1000 and you use that signal to go flat
Market internals give you context and confirmation, price in /ES may be trending but if market internals do not confirm the move may a reversal is on its way
Price is an advertise, you can see the real move in the structure below, in the behavior of the individual components of the market, those are the real questions:
- How many stocks are going up/down (ADD)
- How many volume is flowing up/down (VOLD)
- How many stocks are ticking up/down (TICK)
- What is the overall volume breath of the market (TRIN)
FEATURES:
- Plot one of the four basic market internal indices: TICK, ADD, VOLD and TRIN
- Show labels with values beyond an user defined threshold
- Show ZERO line
- Show user defined Dotted and Dashed lines
- Show user defined moving average
SETTINGS:
- Market internal: ticker to plot in the indicator, four options to choose from (TICK, ADD, VOLD and TRIN)
- Labels threshold: all values beyond this will be ploted as labels
- Dot lines at: two dotted lines will be plotted at this value above and below the zero line
- Dash lines at: two dashed lines will be plotted at this value above and below the zero line
- MA type: two options avaiable SMA (Simple Moving Average) or EMA (Exponential Moving Average)
- MA length: number of bars to calculate the moving average
- Show zero line: show or hide zero line
- Show dot line: show or hide dotted lines
