MTF Bollinger BandWidth [CryptoSea]The MTF Bollinger BandWidth Indicator is an advanced analytical tool crafted for traders who need to gauge market volatility and trend strength across multiple timeframes. This powerful indicator leverages the Bollinger BandWidth concept to provide a comprehensive view of price movements and volatility changes, making it ideal for those looking to enhance their trading strategies with multi-timeframe analysis.
Key Features
Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Allows users to monitor Bollinger BandWidth across various timeframes, providing a macro and micro perspective on market volatility.
Pivot Point Detection: Identifies crucial high and low pivot points, offering insights into potential support and resistance levels. Pivot points are dynamic and adjust based on the timeframe viewed, reflecting short-term fluctuations or longer-term trends.
Customizable Parameters: Includes options to adjust the length of the moving average, the standard deviation multiplier, and more, enabling traders to tailor the tool to their specific needs.
Dynamic Color Coding: Utilizes color changes to indicate different market conditions, aiding in quick visual assessments.
In the example below, notice how changes in BBW across different timeframes provide early signals for potential volatility increases or decreases.
How it Works
Calculation of BandWidth: Measures the percentage difference between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands, which expands or contracts based on market volatility.
High and Low Pivot Tracking: Automatically calculates and tracks the pivots in BBW values, which are critical for identifying turning points in market behavior. High and low levels will change depending on the timeframe, capturing distinct market behaviors from granular movements to broad trends.
Visual Alerts and Table Display: Highlights significant changes in BBW with visual alerts and provides a detailed table view for comparison across timeframes.
In the example below, BBW identifies a significant contraction followed by an expansion, suggesting a potential breakout.
Application
Strategic Market Entry and Exit: Assists traders in making well-informed decisions about when to enter and exit trades based on volatility cues.
Trend Strength Assessment: Helps in determining the strength of the prevailing market trend through detailed analysis of expansion and contraction periods.
Adaptable to Various Trading Styles: Suitable for day traders, swing traders, and long-term investors due to its customization capabilities and effectiveness across different timeframes.
The MTF Bollinger BandWidth Indicator is a must-have in the arsenal of traders who demand depth, accuracy, and responsiveness in their market analysis tools. Enhance your trading decisions by integrating this sophisticated indicator into your strategy to navigate the complexities of various market conditions effectively.
Bandwidth
Bandwidth Bands - Silverman's rule of thumbWhat are Bandwidth Bands?
This indicator uses Silverman Rule of Thumb Bandwidth to estimate the width of bands around the rolling moving average which takes in the log transformation of price to remove most of price skewness for the rest of the volatility calculations and then a exp() function is performed to convert it back to a right skewed distribution. These bandwidths bands could offer insights into price volatility and trading extremes.
Silverman rule of thumb bandwidth:
The Silverman Rule of Thumb Bandwidth is a heuristic method used to estimate the optimal bandwidth for kernel density estimation, a statistical technique for estimating the probability density function of a random variable. In the context of financial analysis, such as in this indicator, it helps determine the width of bands around a moving average, providing insights into the level of volatility in the market. This method is particularly useful because it offers a quick and straightforward way to estimate bandwidth without requiring extensive computational resources or complex mathematical calculation
The bandwidth estimator automatically adjust to the characteristics of the data, providing a flexible and dynamic measure of dispersion that can capture variations in volatility over time. Standard deviations alone may not be as adaptive to changes in data distributions. The Bandwidth considers the overall shape and structure of the data distribution rather than just focusing on the spread of data points.

Projection Bandwidth [CC]The Projection Bandwidth was created by Mel Widner (Stocks and Commodities Jul 1995) and this is another of my series of indicators that I consider undiscovered gems. For those of you who are unaware, the Bandwidth indicator measures the distance between the high and low bands and if you remember from my Projection Bands script, the Projection Bands give pretty accurate early signals of trend reversals and followed fairly closely by a large bulge in the bands. The large bulges in the bands essentially act as the confirmation that the trend reversal is happening and so that brings me to this indicator. This indicator gives signals based on if it has reached a peak or a valley. Both extremes mean that the current trend is ending and I have color coded it based on the buy and sell signals from my Projection Bands indicator. I have included strong buy and sell signals in addition to normal ones so strong signals are darker in color and normal signals are lighter in color. Buy when the line turns green and sell when it turns red.

BBW EMA RIBBON+BB%B+EMA BUY/SELL SignalsBINANCE:BTCUSDT
* * * TESTED ON BTCUSDT 4H CHART * * *
The indicator gives signals based on possible ENTRY/EXIT zones (calculated using an ema ribbon of the BBW) and BB%B oversold/overbought conditions, also a 200 EMA filter is used to trade following the major trend.
ENTRY/EXIT zones can be used as a confirmation on other strategies (green zones suggest a possible entry for a long in an uptrend and for a short in a downtrend, red zones suggest a possible exit for long & short)
Only LONG signals are given.
Signals are divided in 3 categories based on their strenght:
- Weak BUY/SELL (green/red circles on chart)
- normal BUY/SELL (green/red triangles with "BUY" or "SELL" text on chart)
- strong BUY/SELL (green/red labels with "STRONG BUY" or "STRONG SELL" text on chart)
You can use signals from the same category as triggers for entering or exiting a trade or you can try using signals from different categories
All indicators settings can be costumized
Possible EXTRY/EXIT zones can be turned ON/OFF
Every signal label can be turned ON/OFF
EMA that changes color based on last candle close can be turned ON/OFF
Alerts can be set for:
- General Signals (every signal will trigger it)
- Weak Signals (only weak signals will trigger it)
- Normal Signals (only normal signals will trigger it)
- Strong Signals (only strong signals will trigger it)
There are 3 BB%B Oversold & 3 BB%B Overbought value presets:
- BASIC (default values)
- LOW (slightly lower values from default)
- HIGH (slightly higher values from default)
Tips:
Use BB%B OS LOW preset to find entries at a better price
Use BB%B OS HIGH preset to find entries faster
Use BB%B OB LOW preset to find exits faster
Use BB%B OB HIGH preset to find exits at a better price
There are 3 Filters already included:
- A checkbox to toggle ON/OFF the use of Heikin Ashi candels to detect trades
- A checkbox to toggle ON/OFF the use of an ema filter for the ribbon that tries to reduce the number of false signals on over-extended price movements
- A checkbox to toggle ON/OFF the use of an ema filter that tries to reduce the number of false signals when price crosses the moving average many times consecutively
Moving Average Band Width [CC]The Moving Average Band Width was created by Vitali Apirine (Stocks and Commodities Aug 2021 pg 25) and this is of course an extension based on my previous Moving Average Bands script. For those of you that aren't aware, the Band Width indicator is an indicator that tells you how close the upper and lower bands are to each other which is a great determination of how volatility is increasing or decreasing. This acts as both a trend indicator and a volatility indicator. I have included strong buy and sell signals in addition to normal ones so stronger signals are darker in color and normal ones are lighter. A great buy signal is when you are in an uptrend (so the line is green already) and the indicator line is moving up which means strong underlying volatility.

Colour Coded Bollinger BandsBollinger Bands coloured to more clearly show periods of contraction and expansion. Green filled bands indicate expansion/increasing bandwidth, and red fill indicates contraction/decreasing bandwidth.
3 projection Indicators - PBands, PO & PBAll these indicators are by Mel Widner.
Projection Bands :
-------------------------------------------------------
These project market data along the trend with the maxima and minima of the projections defining the band. The method provides a way to signal potential direction changes relative to the trend. Usage is like any other trading band.
Projection Oscillator :
-------------------------------------------------------
This indicates the relative position of price with in the bands. It fluctuates between the values 0 to 100. You can configure the "basis" to make it oscillate around a specific value (for ex., basis=50 will make it oscillate between +50 and -50). EMA of PO (length configurable, default is 5) is plotted as a signal line. There is also an option to plot the difference (oscillator - signal), just like MACD histogram. When you see a divergence in this oscillator, remember that it just indicates a potential movement with in the band (for ex., a bullish divergence shown may cause the price to cross the median and move up to the top band).
Projection Bandwidth :
-------------------------------------------------------
This shows the % width of the projection bands. A trend reversal is signaled by a high value. Low value may indicate the start of a new trend. This is also a trend strength indicator.
