With big Look back period (5+ days) - it can become very messy with too many historical levels/lines. To clear oldest historical levels/lines - set Look Back Invalidation # of days to less than Historical Look Back # of days. (After X # of Look Back Invalidation days - older levels/lines will become invalidated and no longer used for opening trades/TP (Take-Profit)/SL (Stop-Loss), while newer levels/lines will still be discovered.
>>> S&R/Trend Lines - Support/Resistance combined into 1 entity: Every level or a line becomes simply a level or a line, regardless if it originally was a support or resistance. Adapt your indicator with only 2 lines of code and then connect it to this strategy template.

Important Notes
🔥 The Strategy Template expects the value to be exactly 1 for the bullish signal and -1 for the bearish signal
Now, you can connect your indicator to the Strategy Template using the method below or that one.
Step 2: Connect the connector
1) Add your updated indicator to a TradingView chart
2) Add the Strategy Template as well to the SAME chart
3) Open the Strategy Template settings, and in the Data Source field, select your 🔌Connector🔌 (which comes from your indicator)
Note it doesn’t have to be named 🔌Connector🔌 - you can name it as you want - however, I recommend an explicit name you can easily remember.
From then, you should start seeing the signals and plenty of other stuff on your chart.
🔥 Note that whenever you update your indicator values, the strategy statistics and visuals on your chart will update in real-time
II) BOT Risk Management:
- Max Drawdown:
Mode: Select whether the max drawdown is calculated in percentage (%) or USD.
Value: If the max drawdown reaches this specified value, set a value to halt the bot.
- Max Consecutive Days:
Use Max Consecutive Days BOT Halt: Enable/Disable halting the bot if the max consecutive losing days value is reached.
- Max Consecutive Days: Set the maximum number of consecutive losing days allowed before halting the bot.
- Max Losing Streak:
Use Max Losing Streak: Enable/Disable a feature to prevent the bot from taking too many losses in a row.
- Max Losing Streak Length: Set the maximum length of a losing streak allowed.
Margin Call:
- Use Margin Call: Enable/Disable a feature to exit when a specified percentage away from a margin call to prevent it.
Margin Call (%): Set the percentage value to trigger this feature.
- Close BOT Total Loss:
Use Close BOT Total Loss: Enable/Disable a feature to close all trades and halt the bot if the total loss is reached.
- Total Loss ($): Set the total loss value in USD to trigger this feature.
Intraday BOT Risk Management:
- Intraday Losses:
Use Intraday Losses BOT Halt: Enable/Disable halting the bot on reaching specified intraday losses.
Mode: Select whether the intraday loss is calculated in percentage (%) or USD.
- Max Intraday Losses (%): Set the value for maximum intraday losses.
Limit Intraday Trades:
- Use Limit Intraday Trades: Enable/Disable a feature to limit the number of intraday trades.
- Max Intraday Trades: Set the maximum number of intraday trades allowed.
Restart Intraday EA:
- Use Restart Intraday EA: Enable/Disable a feature to restart the bot at the first bar of the next day if it has been stopped with an intraday risk management safeguard.
III) Order Types and Position Sizing
- Choose between market, limit, or stop orders.
- Set your position size directly in the template.
Please use the position size from the “Inputs” and not the “Properties” tab.
I know it's redundant. - the template needs this value from the "Inputs" tab to build the alerts, and the Backtester needs it from the "Properties" tab.
IV) Advanced Take-Profit and Stop-Loss Options
- Choose to set your SL/TP in either pips or percentages.
- Option for multiple take-profit levels and trailing stop losses.
- Move your stop loss to break even +/- offset in pips for “risk-free” trades.
V) Miscellaneous
Retry order openings if they fail.
Order Types:
Select and specify order type and price settings.
Position Size:
Define the type and size of positions.
Leverage:
Leverage settings, including margin type and hedge mode.
Session:
Limit trades to specific sessions.
Dates:
Limit trades to a specific date range.
Trades Direction:
Direction: Specify the market direction for opening positions.
VI) Notifications (Telegram/Discord/Email/IFTTT/Twilio/SMS)
Customize notifications sent to Telegram, Discord, Email, IFTTT, Twilio, and ProfitView Logger.

1) I connected this strategy template to a dummy Supertrend script.
I could have selected any other indicator or concept for this script post.
I wanted to share an example of how you can quickly upgrade your strategy, making it compatible with ProfitView.
2) The backtest results aren't relevant for this educational script publication.
I used realistic backtesting data but didn't look too much into optimizing the results, as this isn't the point of why I'm publishing this script.
This strategy is a template to be connected to any indicator - the sky is the limit. :)
3) This template is made to take 1 trade per direction at any given time.
Pyramiding is set to 1 on TradingView.

1) The Pyramiding in the EA on Metatrader must be set to 2 if you want to trade with 2 TPs => as it's opening 2 trades.

Important Notes
🔥 The Strategy Template expects the value to be exactly 1 for the bullish signal and -1 for the bearish signal
Now, you can connect your indicator to the Strategy Template using the method below or that one.
Step 2: Connect the connector
1) Add your updated indicator to a TradingView chart
2) Add the Strategy Template as well to the SAME chart
3) Open the Strategy Template settings, and in the Data Source field, select your 🔌Connector🔌 (which comes from your indicator)
Note it doesn’t have to be named 🔌Connector🔌 - you can name it as you want - however, I recommend an explicit name you can easily remember.
From then, you should start seeing the signals and plenty of other stuff on your chart.
🔥 Note that whenever you update your indicator values, the strategy statistics and visuals on your chart will update in real-time
II) Customizable Risk Management
- Choose between percentage or USD modes for maximum drawdown.
- Set max consecutive losing days and max losing streak length.
- I used the code from my friend @JosKodify for the maximum losing streak. :)
Will halt the EA and backtest orders fill whenever either of the safeguards above are “broken”
III) Intraday Risk Management
- Limit the maximum intraday losses both in percentage or USD.
- Option to set a maximum number of intraday trades.
- If your EA gets halted on an intraday chart, auto-restart it the next day.
IV) Spread and Account Filters
- Trade only if the spread is below a certain pip value.
- Set requirements based on account balance or equity.
V) Order Types and Position Sizing
- Choose between market, limit, or stop orders.
- Set your position size directly in the template.
Please use the position size from the “Inputs” and not the “Properties” tab.
Reason : The template sends the order on the same candle as the entry signals - at those entry signals candles, the position size isn’t computed yet, and the template can’t then send it to Pineconnector.
However, you can use the position size type (USD, contracts, %) from the “Properties” tab for backtesting.
In the EA, you can define the position size type for your orders in USD or lots or %.
VI) Advanced Take-Profit and Stop-Loss Options
- Choose to set your SL/TP in either pips or percentages.
- Option for multiple take-profit levels and trailing stop losses.
- Move your stop loss to break even +/- offset in pips for “risk-free” trades.
VII) Logger
The Pineconnector commands are logged in the TradingView logger.

1) I connected this strategy template to a dummy Supertrend script.
I could have selected any other indicator or concept for this script post.
I wanted to share an example of how you can quickly upgrade your strategy, making it compatible with Pineconnector.
2) The backtest results aren't relevant for this educational script publication.
I used realistic backtesting data but didn't look too much into optimizing the results, as this isn't the point of why I'm publishing this script.
This strategy is a template to be connected to any indicator - the sky is the limit. :)

In this post I would like to present my personal indicator for short-term strategies on cryptocurrencies called iCryptoScalper , but let me first introduce myself:
I am a theoretical physicist with a deep passion for trading and mathematical modelling of the financial markets.
I started trading cryptocurrencies more than 4 years ago and, throughout this period, I got more and more involved in trying to describe the mechanisms governing
the price action at lower timeframes like 1, 5 and 15 minutes.
As a beginner, I started with the usual "buy and hold" strategy, the safest but also boring option. Afterthat, I tried to get more involved on speed trading
and scalping and, as it happens to all the beginners, I went through many mistakes.
At the beginning, trying to find the best scalping strategy, was a very difficult task and I barely managed to perform well, mostly because every trade were overwhelmed
by my emotional approach and the fear of missing the right entry point and/or exit point. However, thanks to these difficulties, I understood that I needed
an algorithmic procedure to improve my performances and overtake the emotional approach, with a more technical approach: a mathematical guide that precisely tells me how to behave in the best way possible to be profitable.
To achieve this goal, I put all my efforts in trying to write a consistent mathematical model able to give me all the statistical informations I needed to reach
the best performances and, of course, the best possible profits.
The iCryptoScalper is an explicit mathematical tool to be used for scalping strategies and optimized for different cryptocurrency pairs on 15/30 min timeframes.
The script gives you many useful informations and details regarding the current and subsequent trade, accompanied with a detailed overview on both the last 20 short
and long trade results.
Let us have a look to all the detailed informations the script shows to you:
CHART
- Lines: The script plots for you the Entry price (yellow line), the Stop Loss price (red line) and a series of 8 Take Profit levels (green lines).
- Background: The green background color indicates that the script is in a long position, viceversa, the red background color indicates that the script is in a short position.
- Labels: The blue labels indicate the maximum achieved profit for each trade.
- Alerts: The script shows two types of alerts, the "prepare to #" one and the true entry one. The prepare alert is very useful to understand when the strategy is going
to enter a specific trade, thus giving you the possibility to set up all the necessary Entry/SL/TP levels on your favorite trading platform.
- Crosses: The green and red crosses are precisely located at the corresponding long and short entry price for the next trade, thus giving you a preview on the target price
that has to be reached for the indicator to enter. They are computed thanks to a mathematical model I set up and optimized for each cryptocurrency pair.
PANEL
- Overview: This part shows you two probability tables for the last 20 long and short trades each. The first table indicates the set of probabilities of reaching the corresponding TP level, whereas the second table shows the conditional probability , namely the probability of reaching a certain profit level once the previous one has been achieved.
Below the tables you can find three quantities again referring to the last 20 long and short trades: the Average Maximum Profit , the Average Maximum Drawdown and the Average Risk/Reward Ratio .
Last but not least, the correlation between the current asset and BTC is displayed together with the current BTC status.
- Active Trade: This part collects all the data related to the current trade status.
- Next Trade: This part collects all the data related to the next trade status.
ATTENTION!
Please notice that the equity line you see in the "Strategy Tester" section of TradingView is unreliable compared to the real performances of the script. This is due to the
fact that the TradingView engine is designed for backtesting automatic trading strategies and not real-time trading bots.
An example is the following: Bob buys 1 BTC-PERP contract at 10000$, setting the Stop Loss at 9000$. The price of the perpetual then goes to 12000$ and then go back hitting the Stop Loss. For the TradingView Engine this is a
trade with a permanent loss of 1000$. However, for the iCryptoScalper users, the trade is perfectly fine thanks to the numerous TP levels (and corresponding probabilities) given by the script within the trade window.
Template Trailing Strategy (Backtester)💭 Overview
💢 What is the "Template Trailing Strategy” ❓
The "Template Trailing Strategy" (TTS) is a back-tester orchestration framework. It supercharges the implementation-test-evaluation lifecycle of new trading strategies, by making it possible to plug in your own trading idea.
While TTS offers a vast number of configuration settings, it primarily allows the trader to:
Test and evaluate your own trading logic that is described in terms of entry, exit, and cancellation conditions.
Define the entry and exit order types as well as their target prices when the limit, stop, or stop-limit order types are used.
Utilize a variety of options regarding the placement of the stop-loss and take-profit target(s) prices and support for well-known techniques like moving to breakeven and trailing.
Provide well-known quantity calculation methods to properly handle risk management and easily evaluate trading strategies and compare them.
Alert on each trading event or any related change through a robust and fully customizable messaging system.
All the above, build a robust tool that, once learned, significant and repetitive work that strategy developers often implement individually on every strategy script is eliminated. Taking advantage of TradingView’s built-in backtesting engine the evaluation of the trading ideas feels natural.
By utilizing the TTS one can easily swap “trading logic” by testing, evaluating, and comparing each trading idea and/or individual component of a strategy.
Finally, TTS, through its per-event alert management (and debugging) system, provides a fully automated solution that supports automated trading with real brokers via webhooks.
NOTE: The “Template Trailing Strategy” does not dictate the way you can combine different (types of) indicators or how you should combine them. Thus, it should not be confused as a “Trading System”, because it gives its user full flexibility on that end (for better or worse).
💢 What is a “Signal Indicator” ❓
“Signal Indicator” (SI) is an indicator that can output a “signal” that follows a specific convention so that the “Template Trailing Strategy” can “understand” and execute the orders accordingly. The SI realizes the core trading logic signaling to the TTS when to enter, exit, or cancel an order. A SI instructs the TTS “when” to enter or exit, and the TTS determines “how” to enter and exit the position once the Signal Indicator generates a signal.
A very simple example of a Signal Indicator might be a 200-day Simple Moving Average Signal. When the price of the security closes above the 200-day SMA, a SI would provide TTS with a “long entry signal”. Once TTS receives the “long entry signal”, the TTS will open a long position and send an alert or automated trade message via webhook to a broker, based on the Entry settings defined in TTS. If the TTS Entry settings specify a “Market” order type, then the open long position will be executed by TTS immediately. But if the TTS Entry settings specify a “Stop” order type with a 1% Stop Distance, then when the price of the security rises by 1% after the “long entry signal” occurs, the TTS will open a long position and the Long Entry alert or webhook to the broker will be sent.
🤔 How to Guide
💢 How to connect a “signal” from a “Signal Indicator” ❓
The “Template Trailing Strategy” was designed to receive external signals from a “Signal Indicator”. In this way, a “new trading idea” can be developed, configured, and evaluated separately from the TTS. Similarly, the SI can be held constant, and the trading mechanics can change in the TTS settings and back-tested to answer questions such as, “Am I better with a different stop loss placement method, what if I used a limit order instead of a stop order to enter, what if I used 25% margin instead of trading spot market?”
To make that possible by connecting an external signal indicator to TTS, you should:
Add in the same chart, the “Signal Indicator” of your choice (e.g. “Two MA Signal Indicator” , “Click Signal Indicator” , “Signal Adapter” , “Signal Composer” ) and the “Template Trailing Strategy”.
Go to the “Settings/Inputs” tab in the “🛠️ STRATEGY” group of the TTS and change the "𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞" to “🔨External”
Go to the “🔨 STRATEGY – EXTERNAL” group settings of the TTS and change the “🔌𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥 🛈➡” to the output signal of the “Signal Indicator” you want to connect. The selected combo box option should look like “:🔌Signal to TTS” where should correspond to the short title of your “Signal Indicator”
💢 How to create a Custom Trading logic ❓
The “Template Trailing Strategy” provides two ways to plug in your custom trading logic. Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
✍️ Develop your own Customized “Signal Indicator” 💥
The first approach is meant to be used for relatively more complex trading logic. The advantages of this approach are the full control and customization you have over the trading logic and the relatively simple configuration setup by having two scripts only. The downsides are that you have to have some experience with pinescript or you are willing to learn and experiment. You should also know the exact formula for every indicator you will use since you have to write it by yourself. Copy-pasting from existing open-source indicators will get you started quite fast though.
The idea here is either to create a new indicator script from scratch or to copy an existing non-signal indicator and make it a “Signal Indicator”. To create a new script, press the “Pine Editor” button below the chart to open the “Pine Editor” and then press the “Open” button to open the drop-down menu with the templates. Select the “New Indicator” option. Add it to your chart to copy an existing indicator and press the source code {} button. Its source code will be shown in the “Pine Editor” with a warning on top stating that this is a read-only script. Press the “create a working copy”. Now you can give a descriptive title and a short title to your script, and you can work on (or copy-paste) the (other) indicators of your interest. Having all the information needed to make your decision the only thing you should do is define a DealConditions object and plot it like this:

You should write your deal conditions appropriately based on your trading logic and put them in the code section shown above by replacing the “…” part after “=”. You can omit the conditions that are not relevant to your logic. For example, if you use only market orders for entering and exiting your positions the cnlStartLongDeal, cnlStartShortDeal, cnlEndLongDeal, and cnlEndShortDeal are irrelevant to your case and can be safely omitted from the DealConditions object. After successfully compiling your new custom SI script add it to the same chart with the TTS by pressing the “Add to chart” button. If all goes well, you will be able to connect your “signal” to the TTS as described in the “How to connect a “signal” from a “Signal Indicator”?” guide.
🧩 Adapt and Combine existing non-signal indicators 💥
The second approach is meant to be used for relatively simple trading logic. The advantages of this approach are the lack of pine script and coding experience needed and the fact that it can be used with closed-source indicators as long as the decision-making part is displayed as a line in the chart. The drawback is that you have to have a subscription that supports the “indicator on indicator” feature so you can connect the output of one indicator as an input to another indicator. Please check if your plan supports that feature here
To plug in your own logic that way you have to add your indicator(s) of preference in the chart and then add the “Signal Adapter” script in the same chart as well. This script is a “Signal Indicator” that can be used as a proxy to define your custom logic in the CONDITIONS group of the “Settings/Inputs” tab after defining your inputs from your preferred indicators in the VARIABLES group. Then a “signal” will be produced, if your logic is simple enough it can be directly connected to the TTS that is also added to the same chart for execution. Check the “How to connect a “signal” from a “Signal Indicator”?” in the “🤔 How to Guide“ for more information.
If your logic is slightly more complicated, you can add a second “Signal Adapter” in your chart. Then you should add the “Signal Composer” in the same chart, go to the SIGNALS group of the “Settings/Inputs” tab, and connect the “signals” from the “Signal Adapters”. “Signal Composer” is also a SI so its composed “signal” can be connected to the TTS the same way it is described in the “How to connect a “signal” from a “Signal Indicator”?” guide.
At this point, due to the composability of the framework, you can add an arbitrary number (bounded by your subscription of course) of “Signal Adapters” and “Signal Composers” before connecting the final “signal” to the TTS.
💢 How to set up ⏰Alerts ❓
The “Template Trailing Strategy” provides a fully customizable per-even alert mechanism. This means that you may have an entirely different message for entering and exiting into a position, hitting a stop-loss or a take-profit target, changing trailing targets, etc. There are no restrictions, and this gives you great flexibility.
First of all, you have to enable the alerts of the events that interest you. Go to the “🔔 ALERT MESSAGES” module of the TTS settings and check the “Enable…” checkbox of the events you are interested in. For each specific event, you will find a text area where you can type the exact message you want to receive when the event occurs. What’s more, there are placeholders you can use that will be replaced by the TTS with the actual values before the message is sent. The placeholder categories are the following and the placeholder names are self-explanatory.

❗ To get the message on the other side you have to set a strategy alert as described here and use the {{strategy.order.alert_message}} placeholder as text in the “Message Box” that contains the message that came from the TTS.
💢 How to execute my orders in a broker ❓
To execute your orders in a broker that supports webhook integration, you should enable the appropriate alerts in the “Template Trailing Strategy” first (see the “How to set up Alerts?” guide above). Then you should go to the “Create Alert/Notifications” tab check the “Webhook URL” and paste the URL provided by your broker. You have to read the documentation of your broker for more information on what messages are expected.
Keep in mind that some brokers have deep integration with TradingView so a per-event alert approach might be overkill.
📑 Definitions
This section tries to give some definitions in terms that appear in the “Settings/Inputs" tab of the “Template Trailing Strategy”
💢 What is Trailing ❓
Trailing is a technique where a price target follows another “barrier” price (usually high or low) by trying to keep a maximum distance from the “barrier” when it moves in only one direction (up or down). When the “barrier” moves in the other direction the price target will not change. There are as many types of trailing as price targets, which means that there are entry trailing, exit trailing, stop-loss trailing, and take-profit trailing techniques.
💢 What is a Moonbag ❓
A Moonbag in a trade is the quantity of the position that is reserved and will not be exited even if all take-profit targets defined in the strategy are hit, the quantity will be exited only if the stop-loss is hit or a close signal is received. This makes the stop-loss trailing technique in a trend-following strategy a good candidate to take advantage of a Moonbag.
💢 What is Distance ❓
Distance is the difference between two prices.
💢 What is Bias ❓
Bias is a psychological phenomenon where you make decisions based on market sentiment. For example, when you want to enter a long position you have a long bias, and when you want to exit from the long position you have a short bias. It is the other way around for the short position.
💢 What is the Margin Distance of a price target ❓
The Margin Distance of a price target is the distance that the target will deviate from its initial price. The direction of this deviation depends on the bias of the market. For example, suppose you are in a long position, and you set a take-profit target to the local high (HHLL). In that case, adding a margin of five ticks will place your take-profit target 5 ticks below this local high because you have a short bias when exiting a long position. When the bias is long the margin will be added resulting in a higher target price and when you have a short bias the margin will be subtracted.
⚙️ Settings
In the “Settings/Inputs” tab of the “Template Trailing Strategy”, you can find all the customizable settings that are provided by the framework. The variety of those settings is vast; hence we will only scratch the surface here. However, for every setting, there is an information icon 🛈 where you can learn more if you mouse over it. The “Settings/Inputs” tab is divided into ten main groups. Each one of them is responsible for one module of the framework. Every setting is part of a group that is named after the module it represents. So, to spot the module of a setting find the title that appears above it comes with an emoji and uppercase letters. Some settings might have the same name but belong to different modules e.g. “Distance Method”. Some settings are indented, which means that are closely related to the non-indented setting above. Usually, intended settings provide further configuration for one or more options of the non-intended setting. The groups that correspond to each module of the framework are the following:
📆 FILTERS
In this module time filters are implemented. You can define a DateTime window for your strategy to run. You can also specify a session by selecting the days of the week and the time range you want to operate.
🛠️ STRATEGY
This module contains the "𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞" that defines if the “Template Trailing Strategy” will operate using the Internal or the External (“Signal Indicator”) conditions. Some general settings can be applied regardless of the mode.
🔨 STRATEGY – EXTERNAL
This sub-module makes the connection between the external signal of the “Signal Indicator” and the “Template Trailing Strategy”. It takes effect only if the "𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞" is set to “🔨External”.
🔧 STRATEGY – INTERNAL
This sub-module defines the internal strategy logic and it's used as an example to demonstrate this framework. It should produce the same results as if the “Two MA Signal Indicator” was used as a “signal” in external mode. It takes effect only if the "𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞" is set to “🔧Internal”.
🎢 VOLATILITY
This module defines the volatility parameters that are used in various other settings like average true range and standard deviation. It also makes it clear whether their values are updated during a trade (DYNAMIC) or not (STATIC).
🔷 ENTRY
This module defines how the start deal conditions will be executed by defining the order type of your entry and all necessary parameters to execute them.
🎯 TAKE PROFIT
This module defines the take-profit targets placement logic. The number of the take-profit targets to use, their distance from the entry price, and the distance from each other are only some of the features that can be configured.
🛑 STOP LOSS
This module defines the stop-loss target placement logic. The distance from the entry price, move to break even, and start trailing after a take-profit target is hit are only some of the features that can be configured.
🟪 EXIT
This module defines how the end deal conditions will be executed by defining the order type of your exit and all necessary parameters to execute them.
💰 QUANTITY/RISK MANAGEMENT
This module defines the method that calculates the amount of money you will put into each trade. Also, the percentage of the Moonbag quantity can be configured.
📊 ANALYTICS
This module can visualize some extra analytics of the strategy in the chart and calculate some metrics to measure the overall performance.
🔔 ALERT MESSAGES
This module defines all the messages that can be emitted per event during the strategy execution.
😲 Caveats
💢 Does “Template Trailing Strategy” has a repainting behavior ❓
The answer is that the “Template Trailing Strategy” does not repaint as long as the “Signal Indicator” that is connected also does not repaint. If you developed your own SI make sure that you understand and know how to prevent this behavior. The publication by @PineCoders here will give you a good idea on how to avoid most of the repainting cases.
⚠️There is an exception though, when the “Enable Trail⚠️💹” checkbox is checked, the Take Profit trailing feature is enabled, and a tick-based approach is used, meaning that after a while, when the TradingView discards all the real-time data, assumptions will be made by the backtesting engine that will cause a form of repainting. To avoid making false assumptions please disable this feature in the early stages and evaluate its usefulness in your strategy later on, after first confirming the success of the logic without this feature. In this case, consider turning on the bar magnifier feature. This way you will get more accurate backtest results when the Take Profit trailing feature is enabled.
💢 Can “Template Trailing Strategy” satisfy all my trading strategies ❓
While this framework can satisfy quite a large number of trading strategies there are cases where it cannot do so. For example, if you have a custom logic for your stop-loss or take-profit placement, or if you want to dollar cost average, then it might be better to start a new strategy script from scratch.
⚠️ It is not recommended to copy the official TTS code and start developing unless you are a pine wizard! Even in that case, there is a stiff learning curve that might not be worth your time. Last, you must consider that I do not offer support for customized versions of the TTS script and if something goes wrong in the process you are all alone.

QaSH DCA Algorithm 2.0This is the strategy version of the QaSH DCA Algorithm indicator. This strategy version of the script includes live trading alert functionality, so it can be considered as a replacement that makes the indicator version obsolete. With this version, features have been added and also you can take advantage of TradingView's native backtesting system for more detailed backtest results.
QaSH DCA Algorithm implements a DCA strategy that takes advantage of price volatility by buying dips to average down, and adjusting price targets as the break-even price gets lower.
How does the DCA strategy work?
When the specified entry condition has occurred, the indicator will set up several limit orders below the current price. If price goes up a specified amount, then the layers will be overwritten at the higher prices. If price goes down and fills the first layer (limit order), then the Take Profit price is plotted and will be sent in an alert. If more layers are filled, then the TP price will move down accordingly as it’s based on the average entry price (alerts on each TP update). This action of lowering the average entry and TP price mitigates your risk, and increases the likelihood of a Take Profit event happening. This script uses a simple "ASAP" mode, where each deal will start exactly 2 bars after the last trade ended. An EMA filter and stoploss function was also added for risk management.
How does this differ from other DCA bots?
1) The layer placements, order volume , and “take profit %” for each layer or “safety order” is much more customizable than what you get from other services. For example, I can choose to have my TP% change, depending on how big the price dip was. Maybe on safety order 1 I want 10% TP, but on safety order 7 might want a 2% TP.
2) The entry condition is adjustable. For example, this script has an ema filter for entries.
3) Settings optimization. You can take advantage of the replay feature and TradingView's backtest system to see how trades would have played out, and how much PnL you would have made
4) You can use this indicator on more than just crypto. You can easily set up alerts for manual trades on stocks, or you can integrate it with your stock broker API of choice and automate your trades.
5) When combining this with an automation service, you will get unmatched execution speed by running it on your dedicated machine.
6) I can offer a lifetime subscription to the indicator upon request.
What kind of market is it best used on?
QaSH DCA Algorithm is best used on assets that are volatile. That means large and frequent swings up and down. Also I recommend running this on many uncorrelated assets at the same time. Better yet, run it with a variety of different settings simultaneously on the same asset.
What settings should I use?
The default settings are decent for most markets, and provide a good balance between profit potential and downside protection, although you can use a wide variety of settings. In a strong bull market its best to either bring up your layers to catch smaller dips, or you can go big on the first few layers (maybe 4 layers, 25% on each layer for example). In a sideways or brearish market you'll want more downside protection, so you'll want the larger orders to be at lower prices, or possibly use the stoploss and EMA filter.
MFI Simple StrategyHere I've made a simple strategy based off a simple moving average of an MFI length.
Back tested on a BYBIT:BTCUSDT 30m chart.
Conditions:

- Buy: when MFI is moving up

LUBEThis is a chart meant for 30m BTCUSD but could be used for many other assets, and there are inputs to play with.
I decided on the strange title "LUBE" because I was measuring how many of the previous 500 bars had the current price level already been in. I wanted to discover when the price was in a new zone or an area that it hadn't spent much time in recently... the LUBE zone.
Think of the blue line as showing you the current level friction. If the blue line is high, price is quagmired and not moving quickly. Price could trend sideways for a while before breaking out. A high blue line is a high traffic zone for trading. When the blue line dips low, it's encountering a price zone the asset has not been observed in recently, and this could mean price could break out and move more freely and quickly when it does. We get a trade entry signal if the blue line dips below the bottom white line. The bottom white line is currently set to -10. Think about the lowest the blue line has been recently as 0, and the highest as 100. It is set by default (for BTCUSD 30m chart) to -10 meaning the blue line has to dip a little (-10%) below the lowest it has experienced recently to initiate a trade. This is the LUBE zone. The bottom white line shows that level. Again this is a level lower than the lowest amount of friction experienced in price action for the last 100 bars, but offset by 5 bars showing where that level was at 5 bars ago. We want to dip below that to initiate a trade.
The direction to trade in is determined by a very quick moving weighted moving average (variable name is "fir") to see if the recent trend is up or down. To end a trade, an arbitrary number between 0 and 100 is picked telling us when we are experiencing enough friction again to end the trade. I have it preset to 50 (think of it as 50/100 or half way between the white bars. At a 50% friction level it's time to get out of the trade.
Some shortcomings are missing the bulk of big moves, and experiencing whipsaws where price action zips up and then comes straight back down. Overall the backtest looks sweet enough to use on 2x leverage, experiencing a 17.78% max drawdown at the time of publishing. I wouldn't push the leverage any higher.
To get alerts change the word "strategy" to "study" and delete lines 60-67.
Bot traders using alerts: beware the alert conditions. If a trade goes directly from long to short (which happens rarely), without closing a trade first, it might not act properly. If you use bots to trade, for "LONG" please close any old trades first before putting in instructions to open a leveraged long. To go "SHORT" please remember to close any old trade first as well, and things *should* work out just fine.

Simple Steps to set it up:

Newcomers should stick to trend-following patterns until they feel very confident!
Here are Three Entry Choices:
1 - Conservative -
Wait until the bar closes to enter - This is the easiest to execute.
2 - Conservative to Aggressive -
Woodie would like the beginner to enter the market if, with 20 seconds left in the bar, a valid CCI pattern presents itself.
3 - Very Aggressive -
Enter trade as soon as the bar indicates a signal during price bar formation. This is for experienced traders, as the signal conditions are final at the close of the bar and the intra-bar changes are not recorded.

Introduction
This is a Pine 4 trend following strategy. It has a twin study with several alerts. The design intent is to produce a commercial grade signal generator that can be adapted to any symbol and interval. Ideally, the script is reliable enough to be the basis of an automated trading system web-hooked to a server with API access to crypto, forex and stock brokerages. The strategy can be run in three different modes: long, short and bidirectional.
As a trend following strategy, the behavior of the script is to buy on strength and sell on weakness. As such the trade orders maintain its directional bias according to price pressure. What you will see on the chart is long positions on the left side of the mountain and short on the right. Long and short positions are not intermingled as long as there exists a detectable trend. This is extremely beneficial feature in long running bull or bear markets. The script uses multiple setups to avoid the situation where you got in on the trend, took a small profit but couldn’t get back in because the logic is waiting for a pullback or some other intricate condition.
Deep draw-downs are a characteristic of trend following systems and this system is no different. However, this script makes use of the TradingView pyramid feature accessible from the properties tab. Additional trades can be placed in the draw-down space increasing the position size and thereby increasing the profit or loss when the position finally closes. Each individual add on trade increases its order size as a multiple of its pyramid level. This makes it easy to comply with NFA FIFO Rule 2-43(b) if the trades are executed here in America. The inputs dialog box contains various settings to adjust where the add on trades show up, under what circumstances and how frequent if at all. Please be advised that pyramiding is an advanced feature and can wipe out your account capital if your not careful. During the backtest use modest setting with realistic capital until you discover what you think you can handle.
In addition to pyramiding this script employs DCA which enables users to experiment with loss recovery techniques. This is another advanced feature which can increase the order size on new trades in response to stopped out or winning streak trades. The script keeps track of debt incurred from losing trades. When the debt is recovered the order size returns to the base amount specified in the TV properties tab. The inputs for this feature include a limiter to prevent your account from depleting capital during runaway markets. The main difference between DCA and pyramids is that this implementation of DCA applies to new trades while pyramids affect open positions. DCA is a popular feature in crypto trading but can leave you with large “bags” if your not careful. In other markets, especially margin trading, you’ll need a well funded account and much experience.
Consecutive loss limit can be set to report a breach of the threshold value. Every stop hit beyond this limit will be reported on a version 4 label above the bar where the stop is hit. Use the location of the labels along with the summary report tally to improve the adaptability of system. Don’t simply fit the chart. A good trading system should adapt to ever changing market conditions. On the study version the consecutive loss limit can be used to halt live trading on the broker side (Managed manually).
Design
This script uses nine indicators on two time frames. The chart (primary) interval and one higher time frame which is based on the primary. The higher time frame identifies the trend for which the primary will trade. I’ve tried to keep the higher time frame around five times greater than the primary. The original trading algorithms are a port from a much larger program on another trading platform. I’ve converted some of the statistical functions to use standard indicators available on TradingView. The setups make heavy use of the Hull Moving Average in conjunction with EMAs that form the Bill Williams Alligator as described in his book “New Trading Dimensions” Chapter 3. Lag between the Hull and the EMAs form the basis of the entry and exit points. The alligator itself is used to identify the trend main body.
The entire script is around 1700 lines of Pine code which is the maximum incidental size given the TradingView limits: local scopes, run-time duration and compile time. I’ve been working on this script for over a year and have tested it on various instruments stocks, forex and crypto. It performs well on higher liquidity markets that have at least a year of historical data. Though it can be configured to work on any interval between 5 minutes and 1 day, trend trading is generally a longer term paradigm. For day trading the 10 to 15 minute interval will allow you to catch momentum breakouts. For intraweek trades 30 minutes to 1 hour should give you a trade every other a day. Four hours and above are for seasoned deep pocket traders. Originally, this script contained both range trading and trend following logic but had to be broken into separate scripts due to the aforementioned limitations.
Inputs to the script use cone centric measurements in effort to avoid exposing adjustments to the various internal indicators. The goal was to keep the inputs relevant to the actual trade entry and exit locations as opposed to a series of MA input values and the like. As a result the strategy exposes over 50 inputs grouped into long or short sections. Inputs are available for the usual minimum profit and stop-loss as well as safeguards, trade frequency, DCA, modes, presets, reports and lots of calibrations. The inputs are numerous, I’m aware. Unfortunately, at this time, TradingView does not offer any other method to get data in the script. The usual initialization files such as cnf, cfg, ini, json and xml files are currently unsupported.

Indicator Repainting And Anomalies
Indicator repainting is an industry wide problem which mainly occurs when you mix backtest data with real-time data. It doesn't matter which platform you use some form of this condition will manifest itself on your chart over time. The critical aspect being whether live trades on your broker’s account continue to match your TradingView study. Since this trading system is featured as two separate scripts, indicator repainting is addressed in the study version. The strategy (this script) is intended to be used on historical data to determine the appropriate trading inputs to apply in the study. As such, the higher time frame of this strategy will indeed repaint. Please do not attempt to trade from the strategy. Please see the study version for more information.
One issue that comes up when comparing the strategy with the study is that the strategy trades show on the chart one bar later than the study. This problem is due to the fact that “strategy.entry()” and “strategy_exit()” do not execute on the same bar called. The study, on the other hand, has no such limitation since there are no position routines. However, alerts that are subsequently fired off when triggered in the study are dispatched from the TradingView servers one bar later from the study plot. Therefore the alert you actually receive on your cell phone matches the strategy plot but is one bar later than the study plot. A lot can happen in four hours if you are trading off a 240 bar.
Please be aware that the data source matters. Cryptocurrency has no central tick repository so each exchange supplies TradingView its feed. Even though it is the same symbol the quality of the data and subsequently the bars that are supplied to the chart varies with the exchange. This script will absolutely produce different results on different data feeds of the same symbol. Be sure to backtest this script on the same data you intend to receive alerts for. Any example settings I share with you will always have the exchange name used to generate the test results.
Usage
The following steps provide a very brief set of instructions that will get you started but will most certainly not produce the best backtest. A trading system that you are willing to risk your hard earned capital will require a well crafted configuration that involves time, expertise and clearly defined goals. As previously mentioned, I have several example configs that I use for my own trading that I can share with you along with a PDF which describes each input in detail. To get hands on experience in setting up your own symbol from scratch please follow the steps below.
The input dialog box contains over 50 inputs separated into seven sections. Each section is identified as such with a makeshift separator input. There are three main areas that must to be configured: long side, short side and settings that apply to both. The rest of the inputs apply to pyramids, DCA, reporting and calibrations. The following steps address these three main areas only. You will need to get your backtest in the black before moving on to the more advanced features
Step 1. Setup the Base currency and order size in the properties tab.
Step 2. Select the calculation presets in the Instrument Type field.
Step 3. Select “No Trade” in the Trading Mode field.
Step 4. Select the Histogram indicator from section 3. You will be experimenting with different ones so it doesn’t matter which one you try first.
Step 5. Turn on Show Markers in Section 3.
Step 6. Go to the chart and checkout where the markers show up. Blue is up and red is down. Long trades show up along the blue markers and short trades on the red.
Step 7. Make adjustments to Base To Vertex and Vertex To Base net change and roc in section 3. Use these fields to move the markers to where you want trades to be. Blue is long and red is short.
Step 8. Try a different indicator from section 3 and repeat Step 7 until you find the best match for this instrument on this interval. This step is complete when the Vertex settings and indicator combination produce the most favorable results.
Step 9. Turn off Show Markers in Section 3.
Step 10. Enable the Symmetrical and Deviation calculation models at the top of section 5 and 6 (Symmetrical, Deviation).
Step 11. Put in your Minimum Profit and Stop Loss in the first section. This is in pips or currency basis points (chart right side scale)
Step 12. Return to step 3 and select a Trading Mode (Long, Short, BiDir, Flip Flop). If you are planning to trade bidirectionally its best to configure long first then short. Combine them with BiDir or Flip Flop after setting up both sides of the trade individually.
Step 13. Trades should be showing on the chart.
Step 14. Make adjustments to the Vertex fields in section 3 until the TradingView performance report is showing a profit.
Step 15. Change indicators and repeat step 14. Pick the best indicator.
Step 16. Use the check boxes in sections 5 and 6 to improve the performance of each side.
Step 17. Try adding the Correlation calculation model to either side. This model can sometimes produce a negative result but can be improved by enabling “Adhere To Markers” or “Narrow Correlation Scope” in the sections 5 and 6.
Step 18. Enable the reporting conditions in section 7. Look for long runs of consecutive losses or high debt sequences. These are indications that your trading system cannot withstand sudden changes in market sentiment.
Step 19. Examine the chart and see that trades are being placed in accordance with your desired trading model.
Step 20. Apply the backtest settings to the study version and perform forward testing.
This script is open for beta testing. After successful beta test it will become a commercial application available by subscription only. I’ve invested quite a lot of time and effort into making this the best possible signal generator for all of the instruments I intend to trade. I certainly welcome any suggestions for improvements. To use this strategy on a ALT/BTC market (for trading altcoins), change the default Order Size from 1 Contract to 100% of Equity.
There are two kind of buy signals : Green and Blue triangles, that are two great Buy/Long entries.
There are also two kind of sell signals: Red and Orange triangles, that are two great Sell/Short entries.
The indicator comes with automatic Alerts that trigger on Green and Blue triangles for a Buy Alert, or that trigger on Red and Orange triangles for a Sell Alert.
