VIX Regime Allocator (bright colors)

33
Assets allocation indicator. Risk-on (e.g. crypto, stocks, etc) Risk-off (e.g. Gold, Silver)
VIX-based regime filter with bright background colors and allocation guidance (risk-on/off). Alerts on regime changes.

Bright Green — Regime 1 (VIX < 12)
Extremely calm / complacency.
Bias: Strong risk-on.
Actions: Overweight growth/high-beta; trim hedges; consider buying cheap protection (puts).
Watchouts: Complacency → spikes can come fast; set alerts on VIX crossing above 10-EMA or +20–30% day spikes.

Mint Green — Regime 2 (VIX 12–16)
Calm.
Bias: Mild risk-on.
Actions: Slight overweight to risk; normal leverage; optional light hedging.
Watchouts: If VIX trends up toward 16, stop adding fresh speculative risk.

Yellow — Regime 3 (VIX 16–20)
Normal but getting cautious.
Bias: Neutral.
Actions: Keep baseline exposure; tighten stops; start layering small hedges if slope turns up.
Watchouts: A sustained rise through 18–20 often precedes broader de-risking.

Orange — Regime 4 (VIX 20–25)
Tense / risk rising.
Bias: De-risk.
Actions: Reduce high-beta/alts; raise cash; add hedges; shorten holding periods.
Watchouts: Confirm with trend (VIX above 10-/50-MA and rising).

Red — Regime 5 (VIX > 25)
Stress / panic.
Bias: Defensive.
Actions: Major de-risk, max risk-controls, hold cash & safe havens; keep some dry powder for post-spike entries.
Watchouts: Panic spikes (>30) often see short-term mean-reversion but trend risk remains elevated.

General notes
Signals are most reliable on daily close.
VIX measures SPX implied vol—use as a regime filter, not a standalone trigger.
Helpful confirmation: VIX/VIX3M < 1 supports risk-on; > 1 flags short-term stress.
