Microsoft MSFT is going all-in on the UAE's tech future.

The tech giant revealed on Monday that it's planning to invest $15.2 billion in the country through 2029, growing its AI and cloud footprint and it just got the green light to ship powerful Nvidia NVDA GPUs there.

The U.S. Commerce Department just approved an export license enabling Microsoft send Nvidia's A100 and GB300 chips to the UAE.

Microsoft's spending effectively includes a massive $1.5 billion stake in Abu Dhabi's G42, $4.6 billion for new AI and cloud data centers, along with $1.2 billion in local operations. Starting next year, it expects to shell out another $7.9 billion, much of it into data infrastructure.

We believe in moving fast while staying grounded, said Brad Smith, Microsoft's vice chair and president. He added that the GPUs will power AI tools from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft itself fueling innovation across the region. S

Smith highlights the move strengthens both Microsoft's shareholder value and the growing U.S.-UAE tech partnership.
