Equity investors now demand a 55% discount to buy Turkish stocks rather than shares in other emerging markets. The Borsa Istanbul 100 Index’s price-estimated-earnings ratio has fallen relative to the same measure for the MSCI Emerging Markets Index in the past three months as the nation struggles with renewed currency weakness. Foreign investors are selling stocks and other Turkish assets as authorities have restricted the market’s ability to set the lira’s exchange rate.
