Stocks Start Week Mixed. Tech Stocks Couldn’t Hold On to Gains

Stocks ended Monday mostly lower, reversing earlier gains. Investors were also looking ahead to the conclusion of earnings season.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose one point after the index slipped 21 points Friday. The S&P 500 declined 0.4%, with the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite down 0.6%. That’s a reversal from this morning, when the Nasdaq was leading all three indexes higher.
