@DanyChe ... apologies for the duplicate, but I just Googled "Comment with cheer", lol. This may be a newbie question, but we all gotta star

repaints :(
DanyChe
@myncrypto, As I understand it, all strategies are redrawn, with the exception of strategies based on candlestick or price patterns. Things are worse with moving averages - a test on historical data strongly improves real results. This probably does not mean that the strategies do not work, you just need a real-time test.

@DanyChe, it's not clear for me why traditional Renko repaints (but it does) since the box size is fixed. Backtest is still possible with proper toolset, e.g. mql would handle it properly.
DanyChe
@kashinme, I also do not understand how this happens (and why the candlestick chart is noticeably ahead of Renko chat). Do you think these are testing errors on TV?
thephilipgregory
@DanyChe, There is no error, but TV codes their Renko, Kagi, and PnF in possibly the dumbest way. There is no option to manually set to a dollar amount, for example. There are two ways to trade renko, and neither of them "lag" behind candlesticks: 1.) Set manual bricks and a low refresh time (for example,1 sec). This is preferred, but since TVs chart syncing and saving is buggy, it's hard to do as you are always managing chart reset problems. 2.) Use ATR, as TV apparently thinks this is the only way to trade Renko. Either way, nothing is "lagging" and "repaint" is completely irrelevant. What you are seeing is what renko is intended to do: show longer-term information in a shorter space, removing noise. A 1 minute chart is not 1 minute, it's more like 15 minutes.

Great code! To avoid redrawing, you can add the ability to set a reference point for the Renko chart with the option to choose a specific date and time.

Looks like TV truncated my comment yesterday ... or I hit 'Enter' too soon, lol ... but I swear it was all there yesterday ... anyways, I was wondering about 'pips' ... I don't trade Forex, mostly futures (ticks and points) and equities (dollars and cents) ... was curious if any changes were needed to the script ... I did notice that the default ticker is a futures contract, so I figure the script is fine as-is, but I didn't want to assume. :)

@DanyChe ... this may be a newbie question, lol, but we all gotta start somewhere ... I don't trade Forex so I'm not familiar with pips (all I know I learned from Google). I trade futures (ticks and points) and equities (dollars and cents). Are there are adjustments needed to your script? If anyone else knows, you'll be helping a future millionaire out. ;)
